The Northern Inuit is a relatively new breed, having only been developed in the UK in the 1980s. Similar, but not the same breed is the Tamascan dog. In the short time that these handsome dogs have been around, they have gained popularity not only here in the UK, but elsewhere in the world. Anyone wishing to share their home with one of these handsome dogs must register their interest with breeders and get on a waiting list, as there are only a few well-bred puppies available each year.

Northern Inuit Dogs are intelligent, loyal, and friendly, making them good family pets for experienced owners who can provide consistent training and sufficient exercise. They bond closely with their owners, get along well with children if properly socialised, but may show stubbornness and require firm leadership. They can suffer from separation anxiety and need ample companionship.
