We are a family of 4 living in Surrey with our cat Branston and Dogs Luna, Bonnie and Teddy.
I am an Animal Assisted Wellbeing Practitioner and am lucky enough to be able to take any one of our 3 Therapy dogs to work with me. We have 3 generations of Miniature Golden Doodle, which started with Luna, our beautiful white doodle, who is now 7. We also have Bonnie, our caramel coloured F2b doodle who is 4 and also her gorgeous boy Teddy, our chestnut coloured much smaller doodle, who is about to turn 2 (this was written in April 2026).
We chose Miniature Golden Doodles as our family pet because we wanted a "proper dog", that would come on days out, enjoy water activities, be a good pub dog and be hypoallergenic so that family members and visitors with allergies wouldn't react to the dogs.
Being a mix of Golden Retriever and Poodle, makes this breed loving and people-oriented. They are great with children and are naturally social so are great adapters to all sorts of environments. They are highly intelligent and easy to train thanks to their Poodle genetics, picking up commands and tricks faster than many breeds.
They are smaller than the standard Golden Doodle so are an ideal size for most houses, and they are low or no shedding depending on the breeding. They are playful but adaptable so also happy to relax at home.
These breeds are great for Therapeutic and Emotional Support roles because of their temperament and they often inherit fewer genetic issues than purebreds (when responsibly bred)
