I am a small, home-based breeder of Yakutian Laikas, a breed I fell in love with for their intelligence, independence, loyalty and wonderfully expressive personalities.
My dogs are first and foremost members of our family. Our puppies are born and raised in our home, surrounded by normal family life, children, adult dogs and all the everyday sounds and experiences that come with it.
I put a great deal of importance on early socialisation. As the puppies grow, they are gradually introduced to different sounds, smells, surfaces, objects, environments and age-appropriate challenges. I want them to leave me curious, confident and ready to discover the world with their new families.
I also believe that understanding the individual puppy matters. I spend a lot of time watching how they develop — their confidence, sensitivity, independence, energy levels and the way they interact with people and other dogs. My aim is not simply to find a home for each puppy, but to find the right home for the right puppy.
Just as importantly, I want my puppies to go to people who will respect them as dogs and as individuals, and who are able and willing to meet their basic needs — not only for good food, exercise and veterinary care, but also for security, appropriate mental stimulation, rest, companionship and the freedom to communicate their boundaries. I believe a good relationship with a dog is built on understanding and mutual respect, rather than expecting the dog simply to fit around our lives.
Yakutian Laikas are beautiful dogs, but I don't believe in selling a breed purely on appearance. They are intelligent, active, primitive dogs with their own opinions, instincts and individual personalities. I want prospective owners to understand both the wonderful qualities of the breed and the commitment that comes with owning one.
My puppies are raised with care, health tested appropriately and leave with BAER hearing testing, vaccinations, microchip, preventative parasite treatment and a puppy starter pack.
I am selective about homes and I am always happy to answer questions honestly — including telling someone when I don't think a Yakutian Laika, or a particular puppy, is the right match for them.
For me, finding a puppy a family isn't the end of the story. I genuinely love receiving photos and updates and seeing the adults they grow into. ❤️
