Description
Yakutian Laika puppies
Our Yakutian Laika puppies are now 6 weeks old. We have 4 girls and 6 boys, and their individual personalities are becoming more apparent every day.
The puppies are raised in our home with both parents and are part of normal everyday family life. Both parents are health tested, including Embark DNA testing for 274 genetic conditions with clear results. Before leaving, the puppies will be BAER hearing tested, microchipped, vet checked, vaccinated appropriately for their age and regularly treated for worms and fleas.
Puppies will be ready to leave from 10 weeks of age, but finding the right home is much more important to me than how quickly they leave.
The Yakutian Laika is a rare, ancient breed originating from Siberia. Intelligent, loyal, and deeply devoted to its family, it is an active, hardy, and versatile dog that thrives on close companionship, regular exercise, and having a purpose.
Yakutian Laikas communicate in a very natural way, similar to other primitive breeds. They are typically reserved with strangers on first meeting and prefer to observe people and their surroundings before deciding to trust them. While they can be social, they are often selective about the people they choose to bond with.
Anyone considering this breed should understand and appreciate these characteristics. Yakutian Laikas are intelligent and independent dogs that often like to take a little time to observe new people and situations before feeling completely comfortable. With their own families, however, they are very loyal and deeply devoted companions.
When raising a Yakutian Laika, patience, consistency and mutual trust are important. They respond best to calm, clear guidance and an owner who is willing to understand their individual personality rather than expecting every dog to behave in exactly the same way.
This breed is best suited to active individuals or families, homes with a securely fenced garden, and people who appreciate intelligent, independently thinking dogs and are willing to invest time in training, exercise and building a strong relationship.
If you are interested in the Yakutian Laika but still have doubts about whether life with this breed is right for you, simply drop me a message. There are no stupid questions. I am happy to speak openly about everyday life with a Yakutian Laika—both the good parts and the challenges.
My goal isn't to persuade anyone to buy a puppy. I want to find informed, responsible homes where my puppies can stay for life.
Now that their personalities are developing, I can also help match each puppy to the person or family whose temperament, experience, expectations and lifestyle suit them best.
I place a lot of importance on socialising my puppies and gradually introducing them to new sounds, smells, surfaces, environments and everyday situations. I want them to experience as much as possible in a safe and positive way while they are still with me, helping them build confidence, curiosity and resilience. My goal is that when they leave for their new homes, they are well prepared, confident and open to exploring the world and all the new adventures waiting for them. ❤️
I absolutely love receiving photos and little updates from my puppies' new homes and seeing how they grow, what they get up to, and the lives they share with their families. I would really love to stay in touch with their new owners and continue to be a small part of their journey as they grow up. ❤️
