Description
We are pleased to announce the arrival of a stunning litter of outstanding whippet puppies. This litter is 7/8th show line and 1/8th working line and have been bred to adhere to the Kennel Club standard in both looks and temperament. We have five boys and four girls, with blacks, dark black brindle and pale silver fawn blue brindle all with white trim.
The sire is our homebred black brindle, Celticmoon Shadow Spell at Silverthyme, who now lives in Scotland, has started his career at Championship level and is already qualified for Crufts. He has many UK and international Champions in his pedigree with names such as Collooney, Crosscrop, Barnesmore and Oakbark. The dam is Lavender Blue Star at Celticmoon who also has UK and international Champions in her pedigree including Cobyco, Nevedith and Falconcrag. Both the dam and the sire have been DNA health tested clear for degenerative myelopathy, glycogen storage disease VII, hyperuricosuria and muscular hypotrophy. Both parents are family pets and are very much loved.
We are using a relatively new vaccine, Versican Plus, which enables us to let puppies leave home from the age of nine weeks when they will be fully covered, and able to go out and about without a period of isolation - which is vital for their continuing socialisation education. New owners will not have to get any further puppy vaccinations, until a booster is required when the puppy reaches the age of 14 months.
Our puppies are brought up in our home (we don't have crates or kennels) and quickly become integrated into our pack of adults, learning essential dog body language before they leave us. However, for the first two weeks of their life they are snuggled in a warm whelping pen next to my bed where mum and puppies can have a safe, secure and quiet period although mum is always free to come and go as she pleases, and can sleep on my bed if she insists! Our puppies are extremely well socialised and habituated and it is always our aim to breed top quality healthy, robust, happy and beautiful dogs who mature into friendly and outgoing adults.
Our puppies are recall trained - meaning they will come back to you on a walk, and have been taught bite inhibition so that they don't nip and bite humans. They have a fundamental understanding of housetraining and understand simple instructions. They are handled daily and have constant interaction with our other dogs and ourselves. These whippets have show potential but are happiest being a part of a loving family, where they can enjoy exciting walks and snuggles on a sofa.
OUR NEW OWNERS get full support from us and are sent an extensive puppy pack BEFORE they take their puppy home, covering all aspects of their new whippet's care. This puppy pack includes comprehensive training and socialisation tips, diet, health, shopping list and general care so that they feel confident about how to care for their puppy whilst they are waiting to collect. New owners will also get copies of both parents' five generation Kennel Club pedigrees and DNA health certificates, as well as their puppy's individual five generation Kennel Club certificate. Also included will be the vaccination certificate, microchip details already transferred into their details, worming dates and five weeks' Kennel Club insurance. Puppies leave us with enough premium wet and dry puppy food for the first couple of weeks along with money off vouchers for future food, a bottle of our water to aid the transition, collar and lead, toys, scent blanket, clicker etc. Our puppies are sold with a Contract of Sale stating that I will always take a dog back at any time during its life and a 28 day health and temperament money back guarantee. We do, of course, offer lifetime support and love it when new owners send updates and photos.
ABOUT ME - I am a caring, knowledgeable, ethical and professional breeder who specialises only in pedigree whippets and our own strain of lurcher and have been involved in breeding since the early 1970s. In the past I have shown deerhounds and whippets at Championship level with one of my hounds becoming lifetime qualified for Crufts. I am a trained (but retired!) pet dog trainer and behaviourist and have written many articles for specialist canine magazines. I am a licenced breeder and adhere to strict health and welfare regulations with all of my dogs, including the retirees, undergoing a thorough veterinary health check annually.
This litters progress can be seen on my Elaine Celticmoon Day facebook page where potential new owners can see how our puppies are raised and how our adult dogs live their lives. I am very happy to chat to anyone wanting to know more about the wonderful whippet breed to ensure that this hound will be the perfect match for you.
