Meet Derek 🐹 Derek is an adult male Roborovski hamster looking for a loving new home after being found abandoned. I took him in as an emergency foster but already have a few hamsters so can’t keep him long-term. Note, this page required a DOB but this is a guess. He's healthy and active — a sweet boy who adores his wheel and comes out to say hello when he hears you. Derek is gentle, has never bitten and is starting to take treats straight from my hand. He'd suit anyone after a lively, sociable and easy little hamster to watch and interact with. Roborovskis are among the fastest and most skittish hamster breeds, so Derek's best suited to a calm home and gentle, patient handling rather than young children. He'll need a secure, roomy enclosure (minimum recommended is 100 cm x 50 cm) with a solid wheel (min 20cm), sand bath, hamster safe bedding and enrichment. He is currently in a temporary cage which is slightly below the minimum recommendations and can come with him (plus wheel & accessories) if needed. This should be upgraded as soon as possible.
