It comes with a heavy heart that we have decided we can no longer care for our beautiful Beagle Duggee.
Duggee is a lovely boy who is full of energy and extremely loving.
We want him to go to the best possible home so for that, we need to be honest about him.
He needs a home where someone is going to be in most of the day, he suffers terribly with separation anxiety everytime I pop out. He is used to young children and has shown no aggression whosoever.
He barks a lot. I mean a lot! He barks at every dog he sees. He can look aggressive but he just wants to play! He can’t be trusted off the lead as his scent leads the way so we use a long lead for him in a field for him to get extra exercise. At the moment he can not go into the garden without a lead as he will eat his own excrement straight away (he’s been doing this for about 6 months now). We then spend a lot of time trying to catch him to get him back into the house.
I naively got Duggee to help me with my anxiety. I knew beagles can be a difficult breed but because I can no longer work outside of the house I was hoping he would give me some company and help me go out for walks. Unfortunately, because of his behaviour on the lead I can’t take him out without my anxiety struggling.
Duggee is great with children but very interested in them. Wants to be fussed by them constantly and jumping up. Because of this my son now doesn’t want to be anywhere near him. He is autistic and it is hard for me to explain things to him. We have tried to train him but we are struggling.
He sleeps in a large crate at night (this isn’t mine to pass on to the next owners) otherwise he will destroy skirting boards, carpets you name it. He sleeps absolutely fine in his crate and he is house trained when it comes to toileting.
We all love him so much and we will need to make sure he goes to the right home.
He is chipped, injections are upto date and he has not be castrated
