The first 16 weeks of a puppy’s life are crucial for learning & development, Darcy’s puppies are born in our home so will be exposed to all the usual household noises and general household life. Once the puppies are about 4 weeks old, we also have a puppy development room which includes an outside area that allows the puppies to learn play, socialise and allows us to put further stimulation activities in place. Socialisation and stimulation of our puppies will continue right up to them leaving us.
We also carry out Early Scent Introduction (ESI) and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) starting at day 3 till day 16. ESI involves a different scent each day (ie. herbs, grass, fruit, items from the garden) placed under their noses for a few seconds with their reactions recorded. ENS involves a different mild exercise each day again only for a few seconds and these reactions will also be recorded. This process is thought to improve stress response later in life and help to increase confidence.
Here at Rameslie Labradors we will expose our puppies to a number of different textures, surfaces, motion, introduction to a crate along with various audio sounds which include sirens, children screaming/playing, fireworks, gunshots and many more. As well as our dogs we have several other animals and when the puppies are in their development room, they will be able to experience some of them along with their different scents and sounds.
We also carry out puppy profiling with our puppies which involves us observing them over the 8 weeks, noting their reactions to different situations and new stimuli. This will help us match puppies with their new owners.
All puppies will be wormed at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks with Drontal. Before leaving us, they will be microchipped, vet checked and given their first vaccinations of DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis & Parvovirus) and Leptospirosis 2 or 4 depending on your vets recommendation for your area.
Our puppies will be fully endorsed, and these endorsements R Registration and X Export will show on their Kennel Club paperwork.
