Description
Murphy is a gorgeous 2-year-old, neutered male Beagle with a big personality and an even bigger heart! ❤️
He’s an incredibly affectionate, loving and cuddly boy who absolutely adores human companionship. He’s full of character, loves to play and has so much love to give. In true Beagle fashion, he’s curious, energetic and loves exploring, especially when there’s an interesting scent to follow!
Murphy came into my care through a private rehoming in July 2026. I had every intention of giving him his forever home, but over the last few months, it’s become apparent that he has some behavioural challenges that require a level of experience and support I’m unfortunately not in a position to provide.
🐶 A little more about Murphy
Murphy is a playful, affectionate boy who thrives on attention and companionship. He loves being around people and enjoys plenty of affection and cuddles. From my experience, he seems to gravitate more towards men, although this is simply something I’ve noticed during his time with me.
He would really benefit from an active lifestyle, regular walks, mental stimulation and someone who has the time, patience and experience to work with him consistently.
Murphy does have some behavioural challenges, including resource guarding, defensive behaviour when uncomfortable, difficulties with crate confinement and a tendency to escape from gardens. He has also been involved in a fight with another dog, during which he bit a person who intervened. I want to be completely transparent about this so that he can be placed in the right environment.
🏡 Murphy’s ideal home
I believe Murphy would be best suited to:
* An experienced owner, ideally familiar with Beagles or dogs with behavioural challenges.
* A child-free home, at least for the foreseeable future, given his current behavioural needs.
* Ideally a home without other pets, where he can receive individual attention and support.
* Someone who is patient, understanding and willing to work with a qualified behaviourist using positive reinforcement.
* A home with plenty of space, potentially somewhere rural with lots of land for him to explore and enjoy.
* A very securely enclosed garden, as Murphy is a determined escape artist. Any access to open land would need to be safely managed.
* Someone who can offer regular exercise, enrichment, consistency and plenty of companionship.
❤️ A very difficult decision
Rehoming Murphy is genuinely heartbreaking, and it’s certainly not a decision I’ve made lightly.
When I welcomed him into my home, I fully intended for it to be his forever home. I’ve spent the last few months getting to know him, building a bond with him and trying to help him settle.
However, I also have another Beagle whose happiness, safety and wellbeing I have to consider. Unfortunately, some of the behavioural challenges we’ve experienced have made me realise that my home may not be the right environment for Murphy in the long term.
I don’t want Murphy to spend his life struggling in an environment that isn’t quite right for him, nor do I want either dog to be unhappy or unsettled.
Murphy really is a lovely boy with so much affection and personality. I believe that with the right experience, guidance, patience and environment, he has the potential to be a wonderful companion.
My only priority is finding Murphy a safe, loving and understanding forever home where he can receive the support he needs and truly thrive.
Please, serious and experienced enquiries only. Finding the right home for Murphy is far more important than finding one quickly. 🐾❤️
