It is with a genuinely heavy heart that we are looking for a new home for Willow, our young black Labrador. We rehomed Willow just before Christmas last year and she has become a much loved member of our family. She is a lovely, gentle girl who is affectionate, playful and has a huge amount of love to give once she feels safe and trusts you. Willow can be very timid with people she doesn't know and needs someone who understands that her confidence cannot be rushed. She needs patience, reassurance, consistency and, most importantly, time. Once she gets to know you and feels safe, you begin to see the lovely character underneath. She is very good with other dogs and comes from a home where she has had plenty of love and attention. Unfortunately, our circumstances have changed significantly since we took Willow on. My son has started a new career as a chef with long working hours, and my own job now requires me to spend increasingly more time working away from home. This means Willow is beginning to be left alone for longer periods than we are comfortable with and isn't getting the time, walks and attention she deserves. This is the only reason we are considering rehoming her. There is absolutely no urgency to find her a home and she will remain with us until the right person or family comes along. The ideal home for Willow would be with somebody who has plenty of time for her and is prepared to let her settle at her own pace. Experience with Labradors or timid dogs would be a real advantage. Finding the right home is far more important to us than finding one quickly. Willow needs a little time to work people out so please don't expect her to immediately run over for a fuss. We would also like to understand a little about the home and environment Willow would be moving into. This isn't about judging anyone's home or circumstances. We simply want to be as certain as we reasonably can that Willow's next home is the right one and, importantly, her last one. Her microchip is registered to me and will be transferred correctly to her new keeper. We also have details of her vaccination history. Willow needs somebody who has the time and patience to give her the confidence, security and love she needs for the rest of her life. In return, the right person will get an incredibly loving, gentle and affectionate young dog.
