Description
🇬🇧 UK Dog 🇬🇧
❤️ This is gorgeous Rafa ❤️
He is approx 2.5 yrs old and weighs 19kgs
Rafa is Very obedient and well mannered within the house – not food possessive and will sit and wait patiently on his bed and wait for food, sit and offer his paw before dish being put down.
He won’t attempt to steal from other (female) dogs fed in the same space, and doesn’t react when they sniff around his empty dish. He doesn’t beg.
Rafa is not destructive – he doesn’t chew or scratch furniture.
He is not anxious when being left alone (usually has another dog for company)
Rafa is Housetrained (but may scent mark in a new space – did this for a few months after we adopted him. Will mark territory in garden).
Good traveller – Rafa enjoys being in the car and will look out of the window most of the time.
Loves a donut bed and will happily hunker down in that.
Doesn’t mind being bathed, and loves being brushed.
Loves human contact, being stroked / petted. Makes a ‘grumbly’ noise ❤️
Rafa is Intelligent, picks things up quickly.
And is good with a crate.
He loves walking / adventures. Has never experienced a town, so it’s all been rural.
Rafa has learned to be playful, he can become quite physical / exuberant. He is still in the process of learning what to do with toys.
Rafa is excellent at the vets – being examined and vaccinations / kennel cough.
Dislikes / Negatives
Rafa has become jealous of other dogs, particularly resident male.
He is possessive when it comes to contact / attention from ‘his’ humans.
Rafa Will plonk his paws on you and jump up, onto hind legs to ensure he gets your attention. He’s can be heavy footed.
Rafa has gone for the other resident male causing injury to their ear. No aggression toward the female dogs, but he has a tendency to see them off from ‘his’ humans and activities.
Rafa reacts to other dogs outside the home (barking and / or lunging toward them). We’ve done a lot of work on this and he has improved, but will need to continue with training.
He has clearly had some bad experiences in Spain – very nervous of raised voices and behaves deferentially when he’s done something naughty – hops on bed, raises paw.
While he loves going for walks, he can be very nervous – on the main road - big vehicles, tractors, etc Usually this can result in him shrinking back, but recently he tried hopping over a wall. With motorbikes and vehicles towing trailers carrying loose, rattling items, he will lunge towards them.
This is very dangerous and you have to be constantly vigilant to anticipate his response.
He’s walked on a harness with a grab handle – fastened at chest and back – to ensure maximum control.
Very interested in wildlife – birds, rabbits etc, and deer. He must be kept must be kept in a lead unless he is in a secure area as he will chase.
Occasionally will transfer him onto a flexi-lead when we’re on rural lanes away from traffic, but he’s very strong and needs to learn to listen when on the lead.
Rafa will make a really rewarding companion for a strong, confident, and experienced owner.
He shouldn’t live in a household with children or with someone elderly in the home due to his strength.
Homecheck and fees apply. Our dogs are currently in Spain unless otherwise stated.
📲 Please PM me if you are interested with information about your family, ages of everyone in the home & work life. All enquiries will be looked at.
Please note: We are looking for a secure garden with fencing or walls to a minimum of 5ft. We also need to the dogs to be kept on a lead, long lunge lead or for people to use enclosed fields for off lead exercise as these dogs are scent hounds & have hunting backgrounds.
