Description
I am reluctantly looking to rehome this beautiful looking boy, who I have acquired recently, through no fault of his own! I purchased him in the hope of training him for specific detection work but it seems this is not his strong point. Therefore I am looking to rehome him as primarily a loving, obedient and intelligent family pet. There are some minor issues that I will expand on but they are purely the result of an excitable teenage boy who has a lot of love and emotions. These will lessen as he matures and I am confident he will be a perfect, loyal, loving and obedient family pet that will just want to please everyone.
Oakley is a very sweet boy who has had one treatment of chemical
castration which was administered in December 2025 ( this can be discontinued if you require him to be intact or would prefer surgical castration). He is very energetic so would require some further obedience/ good manners training but he is responding well so far and is very quick to grasp what he is being told. Ideally his new home would be able to match his energy with and good sized garden and/ or access to plenty of walking. He is crate and outdoor kennel trained and will
sleep overnight, in either, happily!
He has mastered basic commands like sit, down, heal, come, leave and drop. I am currently working on improving his recall and lessening his tendency jump up on greeting people. He is very keen to meet other dogs ( and any animals that present themselves) and can sometimes have difficulty controlling his teenage emotions, however, this is improving all the time.
He loves his food (he’s a Lab!) and plays fetch well with balls, and toys. This may be developed into agility work if given the right training as he is quick!! He rests very well between exercise in his run and/or crate and loves to have a cuddle in the evenings too. He is toilet trained and will tap on the door when he needs to go and can be a bit destructive with his soft toys and sticks but only them, as he has never tried to chew anything else that isn’t his.
My wife and I are truly upset to let him go as we can see what a beautiful pet Oakley is going to be but we haven’t got room for him as well as a new working dog. We would like him to go to a family with slightly older children, because of his current energy levels, with a garden and plenty of walking nearby
