Description

The Golden Retriever is a popular, medium-to-large sporting dog known for its gentle nature, high intelligence, and friendly personality. Males stand 23–24 inches tall (58–61 cm) and weigh 65–75 pounds (29–34 kg). Females stand 21.5–22.5 inches tall (53–56 cm) and weigh 55–65 pounds (25–29 kg). A dense, water-repellent double coat with feathering on the legs, tail, and underbody. Colors range from light cream and golden to deep russet gold. • Personality: Confident, kind-hearted, playful, and eager to please. • Social Skills: Generally great with children, families, and other pets. They make poor guard dogs because they are naturally friendly toward everyone. • Activity Level: High energy and athletic, requiring 1 to 2 hours of daily exercise, play, swimming or walking. The Golden Retriever is considered an intelligent, gentle-natured, and very affectionate breed. As is typical with retriever breeds, the breed is generally calm and biddable, being very easy to train and extremely keen to please their humans. The breed is known to make excellent pets and family dogs, being generally extremely tolerant of children and keen to accompany any family member in a range of activities.[5] Due to their affable natures, the breed is often completely devoid of guarding instincts.
