Description

Location: Montacute, Somerset • Price: £250 (Includes bird, large cage, travel backpack, and all accessories. We originally paid £500 for Kiwi alone, total set up with bird was around £750) • Age: 1 Year, 2 Months (Hatched 2025 – Closed Leg Ring Registered) • Species: Green-Cheeked Conure (Rare Mooncheek / Pineapple-Turquoise Mutation) It is with a very heavy heart that we are looking to rehome our beautiful conure, Kiwi, due to an upcoming change in our family circumstances (expecting a new baby). Kiwi is an absolutely stunning, rare pastel mutation originally bred by a registered Dutch Parrot Society breeder. She has an official, closed black metal ID ring on her leg confirming her background and hatch year. Kiwi was expertly hand-reared as a chick and is exceptionally tame, confident, and outgoing. Unlike many conures who can be nervous around new people, Kiwi is a total social birderfly. She absolutely loves human company and treats most people like a friend. When adult guests or friends visit the house, Kiwi is completely relaxed—she will happily fly to them, perch on their shoulders, and be handled. Kiwi is so incredibly trusting that she/he sometimes lets complete strangers hold her flat on her back in the palm of their hand. She loves her out-of-cage time and is used to free-roaming in the mornings, actively flying to her chosen humans just to sit, snuggle, and hang out. We let Kiwi free-roam the living room throughout the day. Kiwi will happily perch on you when you are going about the house. She/he will happily be on you while you are doing house chores like hoovering or washing up (obviously keeping her safely away from any household cleaning products, aerosols, hand sprays etc). Ideal Home Requirements Because we care deeply about Kiwi's future, she should be placed with an experienced home that meets the following criteria: • Adult-only home or families with older children is advised (Aged 7+): Kiwi has a wonderful relationship with adults and our eldest child (9). However, she has shown unpredictable behaviors around toddlers and young children; it is rare, but she has been aggressive towards our 5-year-old. The relationship Kiwi has with our 9-year-old daughter is utterly fantastic and is the saddest part of the rehoming! Kiwi isn't an aggressive parrot at heart; it is more down to the erratic nature and unpredictability of younger children that can make Kiwi put her guard up. • Safety Parameters: If you have young kids, please understand these limitations and make sure you have the proper parameters in place for the child's safety. That said, Kiwi will be easily tamed to her/his new owners within a week or so! Kiwi does not need age's of patient taming time! Kiwi is used to cats (2) and dogs Our collie isn't bothered by kiwi, the cats are very interested but kiwi doesn't play victim! She will attack them if they cross her boundaries! Obviously this is not a suggestion that they can be alone. • Understanding of Parrots: Prospective owners should understand standard conure behavior, including their morning energy levels, noise, and mess. • A Great Fit: Kiwi would make a fantastic companion to anyone looking to get their first parrot or as an older child's pet. What is Included: • Kiwi (Believed to be female, not DNA tested) • Her large cage • Her travel backpack (can take her on dogs walks if the temperature permits it) • All of her current toys, perches, bowls, and remaining food/accessories to ensure a smooth transition. We have set the rehoming fee at £250 for the entire setup solely to ensure she goes to a dedicated, genuine home.
