Description
Hello, I’m just putting my feelers out about possibly finding my beloved two budgies a new home, as I don’t think I can provide the proper care and attention they need. I really want them to go to a 5-star home to make sure their needs are met so please read everything and if you’re interested please write to me a bit about your home and experience so I can find the best match for them 🙂
The light green budgie is Luke (although I am recently suspecting he might actually be a girl due to his crest colour). Luke is disabled and can not fly whatsoever, I don’t know why and that’s a big reason I am thinking of rehoming. I feel he needs someone with more bird experience who can make sure his needs are being met properly so he can live a long and fulfilled life. He’s very anxious and nervous so I doubt he will be able to be tamed. He’s about 2 years old. He is very good at climbing so in the cage he gets around just fine but if he jumps out he can only waddle around and can’t get back in unless you catch him and lift him back up (he enjoys biting).
The blue budgie is Pandora. She is a girl and I suspect around 1 year old. Luke’s older cage mates passed recently so I bought him Pandora in May, and they are now best friends. She has not been tamed but she’s very bold and curious so I suspect taming her won’t take long at all if you wish to.
Their setup: They have a large new cage, with everything inside a little budgie could ever need. There’s lots of perches and ledges so Luke can get up and down easily. They both enjoy eating fruits and vegetables, and their daily food is a mix of Harrison’s bird pellets and your average budgie seed mix. They both enjoy company from other budgies so would be happy (but not required) if you ever added more to their home. As budgies, please be aware that despite being one of the quietest types of parrots, they still make a lot of noise.
Needs from future home/owner:
-No cats or dogs (as Luke can’t fly if there was ever a time he jumped onto the floor, he won’t be able to escape a predator)
-Prior experience with birds
-A vehicle. Their cage is decently large so you’ll need a way to get it home (we live in Knaresborough but I don’t have a car so I can’t deliver unfortunately)
-A place where their cage will never drop below 18c at the lowest. They’re from Australia so they like to be nice and warm, budgies can get chilled very easily
