🐾 LOOKING FOR A PATIENT, LOVING HOME FOR MY BOY 🐾
This is a very difficult decision for me, but I’m looking for the right home for my boy, where someone can give him the time, patience and understanding he needs.
Raven is a 10 month old 75% Maine Coon and 25% Ragdoll male. Before I got him, he was kept alone in a small downstairs toilet room with no other kittens and very little human interaction. Because of this, he is extremely frightened of people and has struggled to learn to trust humans.
He is very nervous and will run away if you approach him. He doesn’t currently allow people to stroke or handle him and will try to escape if picked up. I want to be completely honest about his behaviour so that anyone interested understands his needs before considering him.
Despite this, he does have a lovely side to him.🥰 He will sometimes come over to you on his own, sniff your hand, play, eat and sleep in the same room as you. He curles up and falls asleep beside me. He seems to feel more comfortable when he can approach people on his own terms.
He needs someone with lots of patience, experience with nervous or undersocialised cats, and realistic expectations. He needs a calm, secure environment where he won’t be pressured into being touched and can learn to feel safe at his own pace.
I’m looking for someone who understands that earning his trust could take a long time and that he may never become a cat who enjoys being picked up or cuddled.
His neutering and microchip is still outstanding because his fear makes it impossible to get him safely into a carrier. (the advertisement wouldn’t allow me to selected not microchipped so please ignore that it says he’s had one as he hasn’t) His new owner would need to be prepared to work with a vet to arrange this safely.
This isn’t a decision I’m making lightly. I want what is best for him, and I want to find someone who will genuinely give him the chance he deserves.
❤️ CHILDREN & OTHER CATS: He has been brought up in a home with a newborn baby and a 2-year-old child and has been fine around them. He has also been brought up in a multi-cat household with 10 cats, and he gets along really well with other cats. He loves playing with them and cuddling up to sleep beside them.
Although he has been fine living around young children, he is extremely nervous of people and does not currently allow himself to be stroked or picked up. He will hiss if someone attempts to handle him. It’s important that any children in his new home understand that he must not be chased, cornered or forced into physical contact. He needs to be allowed to approach people in his own time, with patient supervision around children.
He may benefit from having friendly, confident cats around him, as he clearly enjoys their company and feels comfortable playing and sleeping alongside them.
Please only message if you are genuinely interested and understand the needs of a very frightened cat. I will want to ask questions to make sure he goes to a suitable, loving home and please message me for any questions or additional pictures/videos.
