Description
Hello, I adopted these two gorgeous boys back in December of last year with every intention to keep them. However, a week after adopting them, the first of my other rats passed away. Three months later, another one of my boys passed and last Thursday my third passed away and just this friday, my fourth out of five older boys have passed on. I have tried my absolute hardest to care for these babies and bond with them despite my grief, but I have now accepted that I just simply can't. I'm a first time rat mum and ive lost four out of my five original boys within this past year. I need these two beautiful boys to go to a home that will know how to give them the life that I simply cannot give them.
They're still very shy at points, and very skittish. I struggled to bond with them at first as they'd nibble and lightly bite anything in front of their mouths just like a human baby would lol. The black rat is doing much better now and only curiously nibbles, whereas the white rat is still incredibly shy, skittish and does snatch or lightly bite anything that comes in front of him. I've worked with them on this behaviour for a few months, and with gentle encouragement and treats every time they successfully let me pet them, they're absolutely lovely and really enjoy cuddles. They've gone backward a little over the past two weeks due to me not having the time between vet trips and mourning, which is why I have had to come to the incredibly difficult decision that I am no longer fit to take care of them the way that they need me to.
I, ideally, want someone who has experience with rats and possibly even skittish rats, and I want someone who will have the time to dedicate to helping them with their fears and shyness. They are such lovely little boys, who absolutely adore each other and you will never see one without the other. They are truly bonded to one another, and I know that they will bond to their human once given time and patience. All I ask for is that they go to a loving, patient and knowledgeable home who can give them the life I simply can no longer provide for them. Thank you so much for reading, and I am more than happy to answer any questions and send any more pictures or update this listing with more pictures and videos.
I will happily provide you my rat carrier to take home with you, as well as their hammock and blanket (washed, unless you prefer either the blanket, hammock, or both to be unwashed to have something of their scent to keep them calm) as I no longer need these items, and would like to send them off with items that they recognise as theirs. I can also provide a container of the food that they currently eat so that they can transition smoothly. Again, thank you so much for reading xx
