Meet Henry, a happy, intelligent, and affectionate companion looking for a new home. Indoors, Henry fits right in - gentle with adults and children alike, completely house-trained, and wonderfully well-behaved with zero destructive habits. He loves playing games, picks up basic commands quickly, and thrives on human companionship. He’s a lovely little character who loves to snuggle up with you on the sofa. Henry is fully crate-trained and views his crate as a peaceful place to decompress after walks and will sleep soundly through the night. He is also good when crated in a car, totally relaxed and quiet when on the open road (he just gets a bit eager to get out once you hit city traffic and reach your destination). The Ideal Match We’ve done a lot of work with Henry who lacked puppy socialisation and was taught bad habits in relation to chasing cars. Henry finds busy urban environments a bit overwhelming at first (though eventually settles) and can be reactive to moving cars or unfamiliar dogs at a distance. However, he has made great progress with positive reinforcement training to control his excitement with cars, and is fine with other dogs once he’s had a proper sniff and said hello. He’s at his best on peaceful countryside walks, where he can relax and enjoy his lead (further recall training would be needed if you want him off lead). Anxiety As a ockapoo Henry naturally has some low-level anxiety. Under vet advice we tried chemical castration which, rather than easing his anxiety, unfortunately compounded it. He is therefore temporarily on Reconcile medication until the effects of the castration subside (imminently ). Do not be deterred by this - as you can see in the video he is hardly a nervous wreck! Why He’s Available Due to a shift in our family's schedule, there will no longer be someone home during the day. Whilst he can be left alone for a few hours at a time, Henry thrives on company and it isn't fair to leave him alone for extended stretches. Henry deserves to find the right home and we will only rehome him to the right environment. He would suit someone who is around a lot of the day, has a fairly predictable routine, and has access to quieter, rural walks rather than busy city streets. We feel he would thrive in a home with another dog to keep him company and model good behaviours. If you think you could be the right match for Henry, please get in touch.
