Description
Hello. I am looking for somebody with past (or present) bird experience to give my green cheeked conure, Tiki a loving home and consistent time out the cage. I am heartbroken to be rehoming her before I leave for University. I particularly don’t want her new owner to make the mistake I made of not viewing her as a 20 year commitment - essentially like having a child. I’m looking for someone who knows what it is like to be an animal’s whole world, and won’t be put off by this responsibility, but rather treasure it.
Tiki is the most affectionate and beautiful bird, who bonds so strongly with her person, and she loves cuddles, head scratches, sitting on your head and even snuggling in your hand when she trusts you. I am rehoming her with her cage and a lot of toys, but hopefully to someone who won’t have her in her cage most of the time. If someone has a green-cheek friend for her and would be committed to the effort of bonding her with another green cheeked conure, that would be amazing.
Tiki is definitely a one-person bird rather than a family pet, and she can be a bit defensive of the main person she is bonded to, so while she never bites me, she has in the past tried to bite other people. This is quite a common thing for green cheeks which is why they are known as one-person birds. Also, she needs a hand sometimes with her pin feathers on her head when she’s moulting, since she can’t reach them, but she loves having them gently crunched. She also loves it when you sing her a bedtime song before covering her cage up for the night.
Overall, Tiki is the most wonderful companion, and if you know you can provide her with love and stability, then you will love having her as your best friend as much as I have done.
