Description

Norman is a fawn and red rust Doberman. He is a lovely intact male that we had from a puppy. Unfortunately there is a few changes in our circumstances that we can no longer keep him. We are having a baby early next year and we have commitments that we feel are too much, and would be really unfair to him. We also have older mini dachshunds and they still after all this time, don’t like having him around due to his high playful energy, he’s been nothing but nice or happy around them, but they just don’t tolerate him and don’t want to play in their older age, which is causing stress to all of them and us! Though we have tried with training etc, this still haven’t improved. And with our new personal circumstances vastly approaching, we’ve made the hard decisions to let him go to a new home as he deserves better. He is strong on the lead initially due to excitement but will calm down. He is good off lead and with other dogs. He loves a ball, stick or a hard chew toy! Loves to play fetch! Soft toys don’t last long with him haha…we have tried all sorts. He is crate trained but if you know Dobermans they don’t like to be in there for long periods of time and will chew is bed if he gets bored. He’s happy to go in there while you pop out or at night like we do for all our dogs, just give him his toys or a treat to keep him busy during the day if you do, but he will most likely sleep! He doesn’t bark at the door and polite with guests in the home, you just need to say hello to him too! ☺️ He’s been around horses and not bothered at all. Great yard dog, if you had the time to expose him more to that. But our yard we had to keep them on a lead but in my field he was always loose and well behaved. He does know the basic commands. And he’s very clever and good learn a lot more if you had the time. He’s got a great appetite too! Loves a biscuit or a kong…he will always leave a bowl clean 😁 he’s on standard meat and biscuits as we tried raw at the start and didn’t quite agree with him, but maybe as a young adult he can tolerate this now? We are gutted that we’ve not managed to make this work but we really have to think what’s best for him and we are slowly struggling as time goes on especially with the pregnancy, it’s not fair to him as he is a lovely boy. I think he would be best in a home by himself or with dogs that match his playfulness and energy and wants a good friend! He will come with all his collars and coats etc.
