Description

Pet Home Only; Petal is a super special Frenchie whom we love very much. However due to a significant change in our circumstances where Petal was training as our daughter’s assistance dog; we have since found ourselves where our daughter is unable to access school after her mental health and SEN needs deteriorated significantly. This meant Petal's 'job' stopped in late 2023 and Petal has found it hard to adjust to being a pet again which she now very much is. However this doesn’t mean she’s less cheeky or active she's now just at home all the time with myself as sadly her relationship changed with our little girl as she associates a lot of negativity with Petal sadly and is now totally disengaged with her. This is incredibly hard for us to see and manage so making the decision to find a new forever home is what we feel is in best interest for her. Due to the unending medical appts our family navigates, our own full time jobs and complexity of special needs our children have, we feel we are unable to give her the level of stimulation she needs and is very active and excitable. She's house trained, amazingly loving and loves humans in all shapes and sizes. She enjoys meeting other dogs but on her terms as she likes to be off her lead to explore. She can be quite in their faces so she needs confidence in handling and recall as she will go to any dog and this can obviously be dangerous if other dogs are less welcoming. She's very vocal like many Frenchies which is entertaining sometimes but typically it’s her distress being made known. Her breed's nature mean she can be a bit anxious which we see more in environments she isn't 'in charge' of such as vet visits! Our family situation is greatly changed from how it was and our daughter no longer training with her several times a week, it's just not enough for her and we just don’t have the capacity alongside the demands of medical and well being management; she needs to be 'doing' and needs more attention to occupy and tire her than I am able to physically give to her. She loves cuddles, she will lay and relax but needs tiring out first. Having had this little fur ball from a baby we know her very well and we believe Petal would be best as a pet only and preferably an ONLY dog or pet too as she seems to be happier when she is on her own or with our older springer. Obviously it will be dependent on the new home and she may settle with another dog; she would benefit from a calmer nature as with our spaniel if that was the case. She needs lots of love, patience and attention and our vet predicts it could take her a little while to adjust as they get very attached to their humans which might be demonstrated as anxieties and making this known by crying ( she hates being on her own so someone who is out of the house for long periods is not the right home! ) She currently lives with an older Springer Spaniel whom she is very attached too as well as a cat; she loves him, he hates her! Please don’t be offended when we ask that you only respond to this if you are genuinely able to offer a home that could fit what Petal needs. This is because we are readvertising after not finding the right home despite lots of interest and people enquiring about her as an assistance dog which we are not looking to do for the reasons outlined. Please contact If you feel you can give a new life conducive with Petal's needs including lots of walks, lots of cuddles, chopped up carrots and apple ( her fave) somewhere to run and plenty of time to spend occupying her with mental stimulation. We have also discussed this at length with our vet who agrees a pet home would suit her best after not being active for well over a year as a trainee AD. We are not a family who make decisions lightly and feel we have failed by having to consider this as a solution but she has reassured we are doing this for the right reasons. Petal has been spayed, is fully vaccinated until next summer and is micropchipped. She is KC registered for which we have the documents for but we did not transfer these from the original breeder as these were not important to us. Her breeder was extremely thorough as he bred his beloved pet (her mum) purely to have another of his own so Petal's family line is impressive with champions galore! Please read carefully and contact if you feel you can offer the right home for Petal based on all the information. We do read all queries and we will always respond to genuine queries we receive. As we’ve had several where we’ve had to disappoint due to the focus for the interest being an assistance dog, we may only have time to respond to queries that fit with her rehome needs. Thank you so much for reading.
