KC Registered Black Standard Poodle – 13 Months Old – Looking for a Very Special Home Sherlock is a beautiful 13-month-old black Standard Poodle who has recently been returned to me. He originally left as a confident, well-socialised puppy, but due to circumstances beyond my control, he has come back needing much more guidance and training than I would ever have expected. Finding him the right forever home is now my absolute priority. Sherlock is KC registered, from fully health-tested parents with an excellent pedigree. He is a fully intact male, fully vaccinated (next booster due in September), microchipped and was completely house trained by eight weeks of age before leaving for his original home. He is a loving, affectionate and intelligent boy who has settled back into my home extremely well. He is clean in the house, can be left for several hours without any problems, is not destructive, doesn’t chew or dig, and is generally a pleasure to live with. He can be a little vocal at times but loves being part of family life. One of his loveliest qualities is that, once settled, he has an excellent “off switch” and is happiest lying at your feet while you go about your day. Sherlock travels beautifully in the car and has been calm and settled on every journey with me. He knows basic commands including sit and wait, and has lovely manners around food. Outside is where Sherlock needs help. He becomes overexcited when he sees other dogs, animals or people and wants to investigate, greet or play with everything around him. He pulls on the lead when excited and doesn’t yet have the self-control to stay calm in those situations. He is not aggressive, but he is a strong, enthusiastic adolescent who will need an experienced owner willing to continue his training and help him build confidence and better lead manners. Because of this, Sherlock should not currently be let off lead in public, as his recall is not reliable when there are distractions. Sherlock lives happily alongside my three girls, but because he is an entire young male, I genuinely believe he would thrive as the only pet in an adult-only home where he can receive all the time, attention and consistency he deserves. One of Sherlock’s loveliest qualities is his gentle side. My brother and my stepdaughter both have additional needs, and although Sherlock can be very excitable when greeting most people, he has always been noticeably calmer and gentler around them. This decision has been incredibly difficult. If my circumstances were different, I would keep him without hesitation. However, I already have his mother, his sister and another entire breeding bitch, so I cannot responsibly keep an entire young male in my household. I’m looking for an experienced, loving home that understands the commitment involved in helping a young dog continue his training. I will ask plenty of questions, and I reserve the right to refuse any home that I don’t feel is the right match. As with every puppy I have bred, I offer lifetime support. Sherlock’s new family will become part of our Standard Poodle WhatsApp group, where owners share photos, updates and advice. My puppies remain part of my extended family, and I will always be available for support throughout Sherlock’s life. £800. The right home is my priority.
