This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to write, and I never imagined I would find myself in this position. With an incredibly heavy heart, I am looking for a very special, loving home for my beautiful boy, Dave. Dave is so loved, and this decision has absolutely not been made lightly. Unfortunately, following my partners stroke, the changes to our home life and what Mark is now able to cope with mean that our current situation is no longer right for Dave. As heartbreaking as it is, I have to put Dave’s needs and happiness first. Dave deserves a home where he can feel safe, settled, loved and understood. He is not a dog I am willing to let go to just anyone, and I will take the time necessary to find the perfect match for him. I am looking for someone who genuinely understands and loves dachshunds, who has the time, patience and commitment to give Dave the life he deserves. Someone who will welcome him as part of their family, not simply as a pet, but as a much-loved member of their home. This is not about finding Dave a new owner as quickly as possible. It is about finding his person — someone who will cherish him, keep him safe and give him all the love he deserves for the rest of his life. Please, if you are interested, tell me a little about yourself, your home, your experience with dogs and the life you could offer Dave. I will want to ask questions, and I hope you will understand why. This is an incredibly emotional decision, and I need to know he will be in the very best hands. I love my boy more than words can say. Sometimes, loving an animal means making the most painful decision for their future, even when it breaks your own heart. Dave is not unwanted.
