🐾 Bella – 5-year-old Labrador looking for an experienced, patient home 🐾
This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make.
Bella is a loving 5-year-old Labrador who is looking for a new home due to a change in my circumstances. I have recently moved to a much smaller property and I also have a second dog with ongoing health issues, meaning I can no longer give Bella the time, space and attention she deserves.
I want to be completely honest about Bella, as I am looking for the right home, not just any home.
Bella is a wonderful dog in the house. She is affectionate, loves human company, enjoys cuddles and being close to her family. She is house trained, healthy and can be left for short periods without issues.
However, Bella is not an easy dog outside the home and will need an owner who understands this and is prepared to put time and effort into her.
Bella:
✔ Loves people she knows
✔ Is very affectionate and loyal
✔ Is intelligent and eager to be involved in family life
✔ Travels well
✔ Enjoys walks and outdoor activities
Bella will need work with:
• Pulling on the lead
• Reactivity towards other dogs and sometimes people when out on walks
• Barking when excited, unsure or overstimulated
• Settling into new environments
Bella can be vocal and may bark at unfamiliar people, especially when she feels uncertain or when adjusting to a new home. Because of this, she needs time, patience and understanding. She is not a dog that will instantly settle into a new environment within a day or two.
Bella is a strong, energetic dog who can become overexcited and needs guidance, consistency and ongoing training. She will thrive with someone who understands that building trust and confidence takes time.
I believe Bella would do best with:
• An experienced dog owner
• A home that understands reactive dogs
• Someone willing to continue training and lead work
• A home with plenty of time for exercise and mental stimulation
• A patient family willing to allow her time to settle and build trust
Please only enquire if you are prepared to give Bella time to settle. Rehoming is a huge life change for a dog and she will need patience, understanding and a realistic adjustment period.
This is not a decision I have taken lightly and finding the right home is far more important to me than finding a quick home.
