Description

It’s with very heavy hearts that we are looking to rehome Ted. Ted is a rescue dog who we adopted just over six weeks ago from a rescue charity. When we first brought him home, he was absolutely amazing, and we genuinely thought we had found the perfect dog for our family. We have completely fallen in love with him in the short time we have had him, which makes this decision incredibly difficult. Unfortunately, the rescue charity is unable to take Ted back, so we are now looking for the perfect home where Ted can be happy and thrive. Ted is 2 years old and is still very much a young, playful and energetic dog. He absolutely loves going for walks, spending time outdoors and chasing a ball for as long as you can throw it! He also loves playing “find the treat” and “find the toy” and would happily spend ages playing these games with you. After an exciting day, he is more than happy to settle down on the sofa next to you. In the short time we have had Ted, he has also shown us that he is a really bright and intelligent dog who loves to learn. He has taken to training incredibly well and clearly enjoys being taught new things. So far, I have managed to teach him sit, stay, lie down, leave, fetch, off-lead recall and find it, and we are currently working on paw. He has been a pleasure to train and we feel that, with someone who enjoys continuing his training, he has so much potential. Ted can be a little nervous around some dogs initially. He just needs a little time to go over, say hello and have a sniff, but once he has done this, he settles and is absolutely fine. He enjoys being around his people and is happiest out on a walk with you and a tennis ball. Unfortunately, the biggest difficulty has been life around our 3-year-old son. Ted simply isn't used to living with a toddler, and as the weeks have gone on, he has become increasingly anxious and unsettled around our son. We believe that the noise, unpredictability and constant movement that comes with living with a toddler is something Ted is finding difficult to cope with. Because of this, we feel that the kindest thing we can do for Ted is find him a home where he can have the quieter lifestyle he needs. We feel he would be happiest in a calm, child free home where he can have plenty of one to one attention, space to settle and someone who can really make him the centre of their world. We are looking for someone who can give Ted the time, exercise, companionship and mental stimulation that he gets now, but in a quieter setting without the noise and unpredictability of a toddler. It is what we feel he deserves. Ted loves going for walks, enjoys going for a jog and would thrive with someone who has an active lifestyle and plenty of time to spend with him. Ted would love nothing more than to be the centre of someone's world, becoming your loyal companion, cuddle buddy and shadow. With patience, love, consistency, stability and a predictable lifestyle we truly believe he will flourish. This is an incredibly difficult decision for us. We adopted Ted believing we had found the perfect dog for our family, and having to consider rehoming him after only a few weeks is heartbreaking. However, we have to put Ted's happiness and wellbeing first, and we believe that finding him the right environment is the best thing we can do for him. We would want to have an honest conversation with anyone interested to make sure Ted's needs, personality and temperament are fully understood and that his new home is genuinely the right fit. We aren't looking to rehome him quickly finding the right home is far more important to us than finding him a home quickly. Ted’s vaccinations including kennel cough are all up to date, recently completed. Ted's indoor bed's, car seat bed, outside bed, water bowl, food bowl, harness and lead, toys, enrichment toys, dog food, treats, chews, grooming brushes, dog towels, paw washers all come with the sale and are all 6 weeks or less old bought new. If you feel you could offer Ted the loving, stable, active and child free forever home he deserves, please get in touch. We would love nothing more than to find Ted the perfect home where he can settle, feel secure and be someone's very best friend.
