Bordoodles have high energy levels and need plenty of physical and mental exercise, which may be demanding for less active owners. Smaller versions exist if bred with miniature or toy Poodles, but the standard size is the most typical and requires ample exercise and space.

Bordoodles tend to bark more than some breeds due to their Border Collie heritage, which is a naturally vocal breed. Barking serves as an outlet for their energy and as an alert behaviour, but excessive barking can occur if they are bored or distressed. Proper socialisation, training, and adequate mental and physical stimulation help reduce unwanted barking, which typically decreases as they mature.
