Mastiffs are generally good with other pets and children when socialised early, have low to moderate energy levels, and tend to be aloof with strangers, which makes them natural guardians.

While both are very large breeds, Mastiffs are typically heavier and bulkier with a massive frame, whereas Great Danes are taller and leaner. Mastiffs have more body mass and weight, making them appear more massive overall, while Great Danes have a more athletic and slender build.
