I have been breeding horses at my family home, Wiscombe Park for 30yrs. I started with shires, my first stallions being Giles and Prince. I then had a fantastic coloured mare called Rose and by breeding her with the shire stallions was able to produce some lovely strong coloured horses that I have used for riding and driving, including pulling a gypsy caravan across exmoor each year. A few of these mares are still breeding at Wiscombe today. Nearly 20yrs ago I started running my mares with the popular Wiscombe Challenger, over the years he sired many successful riding horses, including HOY's qualifiers and and Eventers. Unfortunately, he had to be gelded a few years ago so Oatnell Wiscombe Duke has taken over running with the herd of broodmares. He is a very striking traditional piebald cob and hopefully his foals will follow Challenger's legacy.
