Macleays Spectre (Extatosoma Tiaratum) Stick Insect Eggs. These eggs are perfect for beginners. The eggs are live specimens from mated female so you will get both male and females.
I originally bought 16 eggs, all hatched, I had 6 males and 10 females. The females are a fabulous array of colours from pale green to dark red-brown. These are large specimens which is unusual for captive bred, females are about 15cm, male are smaller.
I hatch eggs by putting the eggs on perlite surrounded by damp coco coir in a container, definitely best way to ensure a high hatch rate. Make sure you have springtails in container to keep eggs mould free.
As the females are large you will need a mesh enclosure as they are too heavy to climb glass. The enclosure needs to be 3 times taller than the length of the insects so minimum of 45cm tall.
Diet: Bramble, Eucalyptus, Hypericum, Rose, Oak, Blackberry, Raspberry and Hazel.
