Description

DAPHNE IS IN THE CARE OF LURCHER LINK RESCUE Daphne is a young female lurcher (born Jan 2024). She is 24” to the shoulder and weighs 25kg. ✅Daphne is very eager to please and quick to learn, intelligent and is very food motivated. Daphne has been to a 1-2-1 flyball session, and she absolutely excelled - the trainer was so impressed with her and how quickly she picked it up. She really enjoyed it and was so tired afterwards. Daphne then went to flyball beginners' class and was absolutely brilliant! She's definitely a flyball/agility kind of gal. She’s also been to a scent work class and did very well - she always really focuses when she has an interesting task to do. An activity like flyball, scent work or agility where Daphne can use her brain and could channel her energy would suit her. Daphne also enjoys puzzle games and search games in the garden. ✅Daphne loves other dogs and was previously in foster with 3 other dogs. She absolutely loves playing with them but can be boisterous, and plays roughly and often noisily. She has learnt some manners around other dogs and will respect older dogs who don't want to play. However she does struggle to switch off around lots of dogs and would be best placed in a home with just one other tolerant dog or as an only dog. Daphne is excellent at meeting other dogs outside of the house. ✅Daphne loves all people and loves a cuddle; she’s very friendly . She can get very excited and will sometimes jump up at people. Daphne is very bouncy and can still sometimes be a bit mouthy, so would not be suitable to live with young children. ✅Daphne is learning to walk nicely on the lead, but will often pull when she wants to get to something interesting. Daphne needs a good off-lead run everyday in an enclosed secure field or large garden. She will need a secure garden with 6-foot fences. ✅Daphne is toilet trained and travels well in the car. ✅While in foster Daphne slept right through the night downstairs with the other dogs. ✅Daphne behaves well at the vets. ✅Daphne has been left successfully for a maximum of 4 hours in the company of other dogs. When Daphne first arrived at her foster home she did show signs of separation anxiety, but this improved as she settled in. ‼.....however it’s very likely that Daphne will regress at first in any new home. Any new owner will need to be aware of this and expect to take time to build up how long she can be left. ‼ Due to some insecurities, Daphne can be possessive over food and toys; management is required during playtime and she needs to be fed separately from other dogs. A behavioural report can be seen on request. Whilst Daphne loves other dogs she does benefit from time out to switch off. ❌Daphne cannot be rehomed around sheep (due to an unfortunate incident with her previous owner), and must be kept on-lead when walked in areas with livestock. 💚Daphne’s ideal home would be an active home with maybe one other dog who has similar energy levels and would enjoy lots of playtime, but is quite tolerant. Or as an only dog, where she’d need more exercise and mental stimulation; maybe with regular walking buddies to meet up with and burn off energy. Daphne is at LURCHER LINK RESCUE in West Yorkshire.
