Description
This is Moose, he is 2, and currently lives in a family with 2 adults, 2 young children, and a cat. Due to a recent increase in my disability and chronic ill health and my partner working full time we unfortunately found ourselves not in the position to be able to give him the level of attention and exercise he needs, and are looking to re-home him, within another family, or to an experienced dog owner.
Moose is microchipped, has his vaccinates up to date, and is regularly deflead and dewormed. He is unneutered.
He is incredibly affectionate, and as shown in the pictures, absolutely adores a cuddle! He hardly licks if discouraged, and maybe barks once a month, he's always been just naturally very quiet.
He loves running very much, and would happily be on the move all day if allowed, but also doesn't get that currently, as we live in a flat without a garden, so is very used to just getting regular walks and playtime and that being enough for him without becoming hyperactive. He loves chewing, his favourite toys are ones that can be chewed, like rope toys, and big bones that he can slowly knaw away at. He likes chasing a ball, but is useless at returning it to play fetch, as much as we have tried 😅
He is trained in that he knows his own name, basic commands such as 'sit', 'stay', 'lie down' etc, but still needs work on his recall when off lead, his interaction with other dogs (he's not aggressive with other dogs, just can be overly friendly and too excitable meeting new friends, but respond well to being held back when on lead). He loves food a lot, which is great when it comes to responding well to treat-motivated training, but does need to be kept a keen eye on in the kitchen or round the dinner table, as he will never turn away a chance to go for tasty human food if allowed!
He is very good with children, having lived all his life with my 2, who he has never been aggressive with and loves playing and cuddling with. He's curious about our cat, but also doesn't hassle her in general, as he has learnt from experience that she's not a fan of other animals in her space. He's only 2 and full of life, and hasn't yet grown out of puppy-like enthusiasm to meeting new people, especially if they want immediately give him affection, so needs to be introduced to new people in calm environments to stop him from immediately wanting to smother them in cuddles and attention.
He's a wonderful dog with a gorgeous nature, it's been a really hard to come to the decision that he needs to be rehomed, we would not even be thinking about it if it weren't for my health issues, we would really like him to go to a very loving and active forever family from us.
He is pure breed (we have his birth information on a sheet to pass on) but not KC registered, and we have had him since 8 weeks old, as he was bought at a puppy for £2500.
Please message if interested to ask any further questions about him and tell us about the home he would be going to, as we are not willing to re-home him without knowing it is going to be a good fit first and he will get all the love and attention he deserves.
