🏡 Loving Home Wanted for a Special Dog 🐾
This is a very difficult post to write, but I’m looking to rehome my beautiful 7-year-old dog.
He’s intelligent, full of life and has completed a residential training programme in 2021. He absolutely loves swimming and beach walks, exploring the outdoors, he’s travelled with me in a campervan throughout Spain, France and the UK, and he thrives when given the chance to learn and train.
About Him:
* Energetic and loves staying active — he needs daily stimulation and structure.
* Very intelligent and trainable; he enjoys learning and responds well to direction.
* He can be homed with other dogs! He loves to run and play fight, he’s taken a number of foster dogs under his wing and brought them out of their shell. No cats, he does not get along with other animals.
* He must be in a child-free home.
* Can be unsure when meeting new people, so he needs someone with dog experience and the confidence to help him feel secure. Once he knows and trusts you, he will very much love you and stick to you like glue.
* All his vaccines and medical checks are up to date and has an EU passport, he’s a very strong, healthy and active boy and has had no medical issues.
* Reggie is mixed breed, unsure of what exactly, he has Ridgeback colours and Doberman characteristics. He’s 30kg and is a beautiful dog, has a slender physique and is extremely fit, he can hike / run / swim / play for hours.
Why I'm Rehoming Him:
I recently moved from the UK to Australia and initially started the long process of bringing him over however my circumstances have changed. I’ve since had a baby, and while he’s never been tested around children, he can be unpredictable when he’s uncomfortable, so I cannot take the risk in a household with a young child. In addition, my partner is severely allergic to dogs. I cannot offer Reggie the same life he has been used to, living indoors with all his comforts. He has been used to enjoying secluded beaches and grassy hills, moving to a crowded city with little space and freedoms would be yet another unfair change for him.
For all of these reasons, I’ve made the incredibly hard decision that rehoming him is in his best interest. He deserves a loving, stable environment where he can be the centre of attention and receive all the cuddles, care, and time that I’m sadly no longer able to give.
