Description

Stunning Teckel from working stock. Maggie has been a pet with us since 8wks old (paid £1000) but it is becoming clear that she needs to be in a home where she can either be worked or at least spend a lot of time outdoors. **She will only go to someone who is knowledgeable or has experience with working type dachshunds** Maggie will NOT be able to be homed in a house with cats or small animals. She is brilliant with people, children and other dogs. She is very friendly, loving and obedient, is house trained, good in the car & has good recall. Maggie is in a home with other dogs, cats & ferrets who she grew up with but cant be trusted with the cats & ferrets. She did come regularly to our stables and whilst our horses, ponies and sheep didn’t bother with her, she will chase them given the chance I am positive she would make a fantastic wee ratter but equally is a gorgeous pet too. I have been diagnosed with cancer and have recently undergone a major operation so cant give her the exercise she desperately needs. Maggie will be a brilliant companion on a one to one basis with an energetic owner looking for a dog to keep them company on long walks or even hill walking. She is practically impossible to tire, however once in the house she will curl up with you, cuddle in and sleep!! You can take food off of her & tell her not to touch etc, she has perfect manners!! She won’t chew anything she isn’t meant to & loves her toys, she will play fetch for hours!!! I have tried to be as honest as possible to make sure she gets the right, forever home. Please ask anything and I will answer honestly. She is a gorgeous wee dog who I love to bits, making this decision a very difficult one.

Cons

Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
The breed is known to suffer from quite a few health concerns so vet bills can be high and why pet insurance is so important for anyone owning a Dachshund
