Description

This hasn’t been an easy decision for me. This is Bailey. I’ve had him for about 6 months now. When he first came to me, he had cuts and scars on his face and ears, and he was covered in ticks and fleas. We later found out he’s scared of men and belts, which sadly makes sense given the injuries he had. Because of this, Bailey can be very anxious and reactive, especially around men. Recently, he’s also started becoming reactive with other dogs on walks. I’ll be honest—I’m struggling to give him what he needs. He’d do much better in a calm, quiet home, ideally somewhere in the countryside. He loves a good cuddle, but he really doesn’t like busy roads or cars—he just tucks his tail and wants to get away. I didn’t want to make this choice, but with my work schedule and where I live, I know Bailey isn’t getting the exercise or stability he needs. Once he trusts you, though, he is the sweetest boy. He adores kids and has never barked or snapped at a child—he’s always gentle and happy to be petted. Cats and small animals, however, are a no-go—his terrier instincts kick in. I won’t let him go to just anyone. A home check will be needed, and you’ll need to visit him a few times so he can get used to you. The price includes all of his bits and also includes that all his vaccinations have been done. He has only just turned a year old so still a puppy. Please message me if you have any questions. Before getting in touch, please read through this checklist to see if Bailey could be a good match for your home and lifestyle. 1. Home Environment Do you live in a quieter area (countryside or less busy roads)? Do you have a calm household without constant noise or chaos? Do you have a secure garden or outdoor space for him to enjoy? 2. Family & Visitors Are you comfortable with a dog who can be nervous around men at first? Are you willing to go slow with him and give him time to build trust? Do you have children? (Bailey is great with kids!) Do you have cats or small pets? (He cannot live with them due to his terrier instincts.) 3. Daily Life & Care Can you give Bailey enough exercise and attention every day? Are you happy to avoid busy roads and walk him in quieter places? Do you have the time and patience to help him feel safe when meeting new people and dogs? 4. Experience & Support Have you had experience with dogs that are a bit nervous or reactive? Are you open to working with a trainer or behaviorist if needed? Are you prepared for a few visits to meet Bailey before adoption, so he gets used to you?
