This is your opportunity to buy my neutered male Maine Coon cat who I've called Diego, as he looks like the cat by that name from Ice Age, but minus the fangs!
His vaccinations are up to date and he has regular flea and worm treatments.
I'm only parting with him as my garden isn't enclosed and he has now taken to wanting to go out at every opportunity.
I bought a harness and lead for him but he's not happy wearing it. There are three roads around mine none of which are busy but he is dopey and I'm constantly afraid something might happen to him.
He is still "kittenish & playful". I have bought him various toys which he largely ignores, his favorites are scrunched up balls of paper or bubble wrap which he chases around the room.
Had I know of his football prowess at the outset I might have called him Beckham instead of Diego!
He's not a "lap cat" but he does love to snuggle up near to you but only when he wants to.
He's a Big Lad weighing in at 8kgs so note this fact!
He isn't particularly happy to be groomed but will tolerate a beard trimmer to get rid of any tangles which are mainly on his belly - this is a two person job as he rarely stands still long enough for one person to do it.
He loves to jump up on window ledges and on worktops which I have to admit to allowing him to do. He also loves cardboard boxes to jump in and out of!
He goes wild with head and cheek rubs and will let you stroke him for a bit until he thinks "I've had enough, so I'm off"!
He eats both wet & dry food and loves his treats. He's very fond of cooked chicken and oddly enough salami too.
He's not a greedy cat and if he could speak he'd tell you that his preference is to have small amounts of food throughout the day, but sometimes I leave him a full bowl if I'm going out for the major part of a day.
He did have a pet fountain for water but he mostly tried to paddle in it, so now he has his "own cup" but he also likes to drink straight from the tap too.
He uses a liter box to toilet and he hasn't adapted to my trying to get him to toilet outdoors, but maybe his new family will have better luck?!
I'm looking for a calm, loving home that understands the needs of this magnificent breed, ideally with access to a secure enclosed garden or to a secure catio space.
