He is a loving boy who enjoys running on secure open fields.
He is true to the Dachshund breed and loves to explore and use his nose.
He is a really energetic boy and needs a lot of walking and stimulation.
Doesn’t mind walking in all weathers.
Loves fetch and tennis and squeaky balls.
Since he was a pup the way he relaxes is to lick our feet so this will be something that he does is weird at first but it’s his way of showing his love and affection.
We have been trying to rehome our miniature smooth haired Black and Tan boy Reggie for the past couple of months.
Due to some behaviour traits he has. We are no longer comfortable with him in our home around our children.
He is resource guarding their toys and trying to show his dominance destroying the items and when trying to get the items from him then baring teeth etc.
He was attacked when he was a younger pup so he is also very nervous and can be reactive on walks.
I don’t feel as though we have the skills and knowledge to be able to train him and support him to give him the life he deserves.
He is a gorgeous dog such a loving boy he is a mummy’s boy so this is even harder for me to try and rehome him. He just lets himself down with his reactivity and resource guarding. Which I believe can be trained out of him by the right people. We are just on a time limit with a toddler and another baby on the way we don’t feel we can take the chance with his behaviour.
We have tried ourselves over the past 6 months to implement training and restrictions given to us by some online behaviouralists and nothing seems to be improving.
My partner and I are really desperate and he has mentioned putting him to sleep and this is not something I am wanting to do due to him being a healthy boy and I believe with the right help he would be amazing but we just can’t give him that.
