Rescue Story
RACHEL never knew what it meant to be unwanted. She was part of a loving family, a cherished companion, always included in their daily lives. But when war came, everything changed. Her family was forced to flee abroad, facing uncertainty and the heartbreaking reality that they couldn’t take her with them. It wasn’t a choice they wanted to make—it was a necessity. Now, RACHEL waits for another family to welcome her, to give her the love and security she once had.
She arrived in the UK at the end of February and went to her potential forever family. Rachel had done absolutely nothing wrong. Yet, within just 12 hours, she had to be moved out immediately because as appeared the partner in the household didn’t want a dog, though we were assured everyone at home wish. The situation escalated quickly, and poor Rachel was relocated to another foster home.
Sadly, that foster turned out to be not a good match: a flat in a busy environment, no garden and with no other dog for company. Rachel began to fade—she struggled to walk without the chance to be off-lead, missed socialising with other dogs, and became unsettled.
But now, she’s with a wonderful foster family, complete with another dog and even some chickens. And would you believe it—by the second day, she had already started to flourish!
Foster's words:
"❤️ Roxy (aka Rachel) is such a sweetheart! She has been with us for a few days and it's like she's always been here. She's bonded and trusted me quickly and met my 4 dogs with ease, even now playing and running around like a looney! She is quietly interested in looking at my 6 chickens and has previously lived with cats.
🥰 Roxy currently does not like being alone and is comforted by the presence of a trusted human or furry companion. I've been building up the time she is left and she is absolutely fine as long as she has some kind of company.
👫Roxy responds well to a calm presence initially, with a preference towards female humans, so far. I have older teen sons and she's taking her time feeling comfortable around them, but she is just a little shy at the moment. I'm unsure how she would be with younger children, so I'd recommend older, respectful children that will give her space until she's ready to shine.
🦮 I didn't walk Roxy outside until we built some trust and confidence. She was a little nervous on her first walk, but we managed a good 20 minutes with the help of her favourite foster sister! She's a little unsure of traffic at the moment, but I'm sure she'll gain confidence in time.
🚽 Roxy is clean in the house and knows the garden is the place to do her business. She had 1 little wee on a puppy pad the first night, by the back door, and clean ever since.
🏡 I feel Roxy would thrive in a home with a garden and at least 1 other dog. Her human/people will need to take a calm, gentle approach initially whilst she is settling and go at her pace.
Once you have her trust, Roxy is affectionate, quick to learn and an absolute goofball, so will be an amazing addition to the family and a loyal companion. She is beautiful, inside and out, and deserves a forever home with love, security and happiness 💕"
Ideal Family
ROXY (aka RACHEL) would be a wonderful addition to an active and loving family, at home with secure garden in a quite place and with another friendly, playful dog(s) to share her days with. She’s great with children (10+) and would love a home where she can be part of the daily fun. A garden would be perfect for her playful nature, and she would be happiest with another friendly, playful dog to share her days with.
RACHEL is ready to bring joy, cuddles, and endless fun into the right home. She’s a sweet, loving girl who just needs a family to call her own again.
