Description

A year ago we contempled rehoming our Roxy but just couldnt do it, but deep down we know it is the best thing for her and our younget dog. It's breaking my heart having to write this. We took Roxy in when she was 2 & half years old as she needed a new home and she was or only dog for almost 2 years. Roxy loves seeing other dogs whilst out on a walk (on & off lead) so we decided to get her a friend. For the first 9 months they were fine together, then Roxy started to show some over the top dominance towards our other dog. 2 years ago they had a fight, and almost a year to the day they had another fight due to Roxy's aggression. Our other dog is constantly having to watch her back, wetting herself through being scared, being growled at and attacked on a regular basis. We have been 'managing' the situation for 2 years now and it's upsetting to see. What makes it hard to do this is that there are times when both dogs are content and happy together. But the other times are not fair on either dog. We have seen a behaviourist, had blood tests to check her hormones (she's been neutered) but the obsessive dominant behaviour won't budge. One thing we do know is that she only shows this behaviour when I'm there, which is so heart breaking. Roxy is 'my' dog, she will follow me everywhere and wait for me. When she's on her own she's such a sweet dog, loyal and just wants a tummy rub at any given chance. She will need a home where she is the only dog, so she can have the attention she needs. Naturally she prefers women but equally loves my husband, 2 teenage sons and my dad. She doesn't really like travelling, after about half an hour in the car she can get travel sickness. She doesn't shed any fur so she does need regular grooms. She's never slept in a crate, her bed is in our bedroom. If you think that you can give her the loving home she deserves please get in touch.
