Description

Rhubarb (Rhu) is a lovely, gentle and cuddly 3 years old semi longhair cat. She has lovely cream and white colouration. Rhu loves a cuddle and will immediately start purring as soon as you stroke her, she also likes to lick your fingers and loves nuzzling clean hair! She is litter trained, uses a scratch post well and while has been an indoor cat, also loves to potter round the garden and happily goes toilet outside too. Unfortunately Rhu’s owner recently passed away and we are unable to take her on due to a few other needs of hers. She has somewhat recently started scratching her face and ear area quite badly. Initially it was thought to be seasonal as she had had some cat ache previously that resolved on its own as the seasons changed and the vet didn’t need to do anything. It is not due to fleas, it is also only located on her face and near her ears and we’re not sure if it’s due to stress / sadness of her owners passing but she has started to scratch more, meaning it’s got worse. The vet had her on a course of steroids but has said she can’t say on them, they advised potentially it is something within our home that doesn’t agree with her. We have a toddler and with her getting worse we simply can’t keep her like this nor can we accommodate to changing things one by one to try and eliminate the issue. We wanted to take her on initially but with her skin issue and some other recent changes in our life, it’s just not looking possible. She is genuinely lovely and would suit a home with kids if needed, though she can be timid at first of the brash movements and loud noise from a child, she has never bitten or scratched our little girl. It is necessary she goes to a home with someone looking to give her lots of fuss and cuddles as that is what she loves most! She doesn’t seem too bothered with toys for the most part but will occasionally have a play. Rhubarb has not been spayed by her previous owner so if you had wanted to transition her to fully outdoors then I’d advise getting her neutered though she has never jumped the fence. We have put a fairly large fee on her to dissuade any timewasters or irresponsible pet owners etc. unfortunately due to the circumstance if we cannot find her a home soon, we will have to put her to sleep as the locks rescues we have contacted have no space available, Please let me know if you wish to have any more photos or information and we will try to provide what we know / can gather from her previous owner.
