Description
Hi, here we have our gorgeous boy arlo who is 11 months old, he is a maltese bichon and we got him at 3 months old, he is so loving and he is fully toilet trained outdoors, he can sit, jump, spin and wait for treats. The reason for getting arlo rehomed will be a bit long, we are in no rush at all for arlo to go to his new home, we are happy to do home visits back and forth from our home to his new home so hes introduced and comfortable,
Arlo got taken to a groomers around 6.5 months old for his first groom as we had been told to wait until his adult coat grew in, in this visit I had a phone call after 5 minutes that he was scared shaken and soiled himself barking into a corner and had scratched the lady, when I arrived to get him he was soaked in his urine, shaking and had blood around his mouth which she didn't tell me prior to her calling me, I quickly realised once he was in my arms he had 2 teeth missing, the woman was really upset and claimed he just got scared and scratched her and shes no idea where his teeth are or how it happened, hes never acted like that at home so I really found it hard to believe, I asked for cctv but she told me she doesn't have any so I was at a loss what to do, arlo was at the beach every few days and the park daily where he was trained of his lead and would listen on command, now since this incident hes so different, he barks a lot when we go out when people go past and he seems threatened by everybody except us at home, whatever happened that day has has a massive change in arlo, he has never bitten or gone for anyone while in our care ever, he is so gentle with our children, ages 1 and 4 are our youngest, one has autism and he is so gentle with them both its asif he knows. I have tried for months now to calm him down whilst out but nothing seems to be working. I tried getting a trainer out to our home he just barked the whole time he is scared and threatened you can see it in his behaviours but this is due to the incident and I cannot say exactly what he went through that day :( its gotten to the point when we go out our children are missing out because we're focused on arlo and trying to calm him down and let him no hes okay while people are around, weve sat down as a family and we feel we have tried every avenue with arlo, having the children and especially a disabled child arlos just become far to hard for me to manage now, i love him the world but he deserves such a better life and someone who can give him total attention where as right now I cannot and its just so unfair on him, ive tried since for arlo to be groomed and he just panicks ive been cutting him myself at home which is not the best but ive tried my hardest to keep him clean and short for the hot weather, as I said above we are in absolutely no rush to rehome him, we want to make sure he goes to the perfect home and I think this is definitely someone whos dealt with dogs before as I have not and I think experience is definitely needed. Im happy to answer any questions etc. Thankyou if you got this far xx
