Track name: bless the moon
Stable name: fairy
Very honest advert of Fairy
Fairy was last raced in 2023 but was too slow for track life. She was left on a dry lot with her previous owner and hadn't done much. She was pretty much left to her own devices.
I purchased this very sweet and gentle mare in June this year. She was very underweight and had no muscle. Fairy was very shy and wary of men. Not so shy anymore, she will holler at anyone from the field. She is getting better approaching men.
Since being with us and having grass she has put on weight and is looking really good. We have built muscle up slowly on her - she still needs more muscle building on her top line. We've taken things at her pace and haven't rushed her to do anything.
When stabled she does weave when she is on her own, once other horses are bought in she's absolutely fine.
Ties up to be groomed and bathed with no issues, doesn't need a hay net to be tied up next to her.
Picks up all hooves no issues and is good for farrier/dentist. She did have shoes on when we got her, she is now barefoot.
Lunging and riding in the mnage I can't fault her - once she has got out the excitement of being in there she will quickly settle down and do what is asked of her. Will go over trotting poles no issues.
Hacking however is a different story as she is highly strung. We have found that lunging her before she goes out on a hack does help settle her down. She's only 7 and racing is all she's known so she does get really excited being out. She will bunny hop and try her best to trot off - for this reason she's definitely not suited for a novice rider. When hacking on her own she can be spooky and nervous. When she has company she is fine although thinks everything is a race.
She's too much horse to handle for my 15 year old daughter and we don't have any experience with TB or enough knowledge to bring out her full potential.
With the right home and time she will make a fantastic all rounder which my daughter doesn't want. She just wants a plod along happy hacker.
No vices or injuries. Fairy does have scars where she was over whipped by her jockey racing her. Can't see them with her winter fuzz.
Not a nasty bone in her. She is so sweet and gentle. My 10 year old can walk her up the lane and around the yard.
Fairy has just been fitted with a new bridle and saddle which will go with her along with polypad, fly rug and a lightweight rug.
