Hi! This is Russet aka Red, a young Abyssinian with a soft ruddy coat looking for a loving home (and hopefully a more imaginative name!). Red is neutered, chipped, up to date on his vaccinations and regularly wormed & flead. He is an incredibly affectionate and tolerant cat who chooses his person and forms a very strong bond. With his chosen person, he is a massive lap cat and loves to beg for affection, follow you on walks and sleep in your bed if he can get access! He has a habit of standing up like a meerkat and rubbing his cheeks on you -- my nickname for him is The Facehugger 🤣 Red is smart as well and will frequently surprise you (e.g. with his knowledge of all the synonyms for "treat"!). When he wants you to acknowledge him, he has a sweet little mew which turns into a purr when he gets his love. He is not generally fussy about food and eats both dry and wet -- but his absolute favourite thing is if he can get a bit of yoghurt or anything dairy as a treat! The best home for Red would be with either a single person or a couple not planning children. He is a cat who chooses a person and falls in love with them with his whole being. He is polite with everyone else, but all he really wants is his person! However, he is very good with other cats, can melt even the hardest moggy heart and would be fine with other pets in the house. He must be able to have safe outdoor access and cannot be kept as an indoor only cat. He is naturally curious and loves going on his little travels, but will never stay away long or go far before he reports back! The reason for rehoming him is that we are moving house to an area which is not safe for him. It's a really tough decision but he would just be depressed being kept as an indoor cat and we feel for his wellbeing it is best to do this while he is young and can adapt to another home. He is such an easy cat to love and we are determined to find him somewhere he will be really happy. Red was registered TICA pedigree as a kitten and comes from a clear genetic line. His papers were not passed on to me when we bought him but I can share photos on request (feel free to ask for details).
