Bruce is a lovely dog. House trained, providing he has access to outside regularly.
He likes cats but they don’t like him (wants to play so chases them). Good with other dogs. Good with children (but very lively and excitable).
We have had Bruce for 2 years and he is very loved and has been an amazing friend to our other French bulldog. However, he is a very excitable and wants ALOT of attention. Obviously this is not a bad thing, but we have 4 children in the house; one of which is severely autistic, one he jumps up to say hello a lot and she gets scared and one is 1 year old and so gets knocked down a lot. This has become an issue as my kids cannot access parts of the house or the garden unsupervised which limits my autistic child’s communication and isolates the dogs from the family.
Bruce has recently started to show some food aggression but only with Raya (our other dog) and never any of the children. However, they now require constant supervision and separation when eating. It is also a worry that that aggression could be aimed at any other children as my 1 year old quite often smells like crisps or something and has been known to sneak Bruce little snacks through the kitchen gate.
Bruce will get jealous of any other dog that gets attention. He does like another dog being stroked or played with and will force them out of the way refuse to let them take part.
Other than this Bruce is great with other dogs and only wants to play.
We have given as much time as possible these past 2 years to let this behaviour settle, train him to share, calm down etc. and even though he is still very young, this behaviour has become too much with the children and their needs. It has now become unfair on both the children and the dogs; especially my other dog who is just like a little old lady.
Due to these issues, Bruce need a family with no other dogs/cats, who has the time to give him all the attention he could possibly want. Where I do not have any direct concerns with him around kids he is quite boisterous when excited and will barge and jump up (however this could calm down if he was an only dog and he got all the attention).
Bruce is a small dog with BIG amounts of energy.
Up to date with vaccines, chipped, has his KC papers. Good nose, no skin/stomach/breathing issues.
Price is negotiable for a good home. We just need to find him his forever sofa ASAP
