Looking for a permanent home for these 2 horsefield tortoise that I bought from a neglectful owner. This male and female pair have improved significantly since I acquired them a couple of years ago with the female now producing eggs. You can see the impact of their previously poor care in the shells, but are now very active and the shells have improved greatly in my ownership. I never intended on keeping tortoise but I wanted to improve their lives, however the time has come to part with these guys as my lifes gotten busier.
Sheldon and Mara have great personalities and enjoy outdoor time and feeding from the hand. They frequently enjoy baths, running around and being petted by my 2 year old.
The set up consists of a 6×2×2 foot vivarium equipped with a 100w UVB basking bulb (I switch to 50w during peak summer) held in a moonlight reflecting dome. There is also a large UVB tube light powered by a waterproof holder. The vivarium also comes with 2 large reptile bowls for food and water, a collection of rocks and slate for shelter and interest, as well as some wooden elements. There is also a thermometer, calcium powder and a product that treats cuts.
Tortoise are a long commitment requiring regular care and upkeep, so please consider this when enquiring and don't be like the previous owner.
