She waited.
Curled into the smallest shape she could manage, Maya tried to make herself invisible. Hunger came quietly. Fear followed slowly. Each passing car could have been the last thing she ever saw—one wrong step, one moment later, and her story would have ended there.
But fate chose kindness.
Someone stopped. Gentle hands lifted her from the roadside where she had been left to die. In that single moment, Maya’s life was saved. 🤍
