Description
Due to a recent family medical diagnosis, we are no longer able to provide him with the attention and care he deserves. It's a difficult decision, especially for our children, but we want to do what's best for Benji and give him the opportunity to live his happiest, fullest life.
Benji is a well-loved and cared-for companion. He craves the companionship of a furry friend and would thrive in a home where he’s not alone. This a must have requirement for us.
A Little About Benji:
• Fully housetrained – no accidents here!
• Knows commands like "sit," "stay,", “wait”, and "paw" (and can even show off a few tricks, like lying down and rolling over).
• A mischievous streak: He’s smart and loves to play, so we’d recommend a home with another dog to help keep him occupied (he has a bit of a habit of stealing shoes when bored, but a doggie friend would help a lot to distract him). We have thought about getting him a friend, but it would just be too much for us.
• Loves walks –It's often easier to keep him on a lead as he occasionally runs off to play with other dogs if it's a busy area. This usually isn't a problem but, sometimes when he encounters certain dogs, he barks. He has never 'gone for’ another dog but will stand and bark (we think he may have had a negative experience at doggy daycare and that's why certain breeds make him uneasy if he is meeting the dog for the first time).
• Benji enjoys tug-of-war and chasing balls (though he’s not great at dropping them, haha!).
• He likes to protect his household... he's a bit vocal at first introductions with strangers, he calms down once he gets to know them. He’s learning to sit and be quiet when the doorbell rings.
• We tend to put him away when we are eating dinner- otherwise, he is sure to let you know he wants to share your food! :-)
• Friendly and playful – he has a lot of energy and enthusiasm but also loves finding a secluded spot and relaxing when he wants some quiet time.
Health & Care:
• Benji gets professionally groomed every six weeks. He doesn't suffer from 'doggy' smell as his coat is not oily (it's more like a rabbits). He is very soft. We brush his coat once a week and it rarely tangles.
• Benji is in excellent health – he has no underlying health conditions and has been regularly checked by the vet. His most recent check-up was in May.
• He’s had dental care recently (teeth professionally cleaned, a couple removed) and is all up-to-date on his vaccinations.
• Tiny lump under his coat that was biopsied two years ago and found to be benign – the Vet advised no cause for concern and no need to remove.
• Occasionally suffers from summer allergies due to grass pollen, but some Piriton keeps him comfortable.
• He is microchipped and has full vet records available which we are happy to pass over. He is neutered.
We would love for Benji to find a home with experienced dog owners, another dog to play with, and ideally older children who can keep up with his energetic and playful nature. He is ready to bring joy and love to a new family, and we just want him to have the chance to thrive in a loving environment.
Benji will be rehomed with his bed, bowls, toys and a lot more... everything he needs.
If you’re looking for an extremely handsome, fun-loving, affectionate, and cheeky little companion and can provide Benji with a happy, active home with another dog, we’d love to hear from you. We would also be very willing to 'test' Benji in your enviornment and with another furry friend to make sure they get on, etc. We want to ensure everyone is happy... especialyl Benji xx
