Daisy - Whippet/Greyhound approx 15 month being fostered in adult home in Gloucestershire with visiting grandchildren and other dogs.
Our little hound-from-the-pound, Daisy, is doing incredibly well 💛
Although her exact age is unknown due to having no microchip, we estimate Daisy to be around 1–2 years old, judging by her gleaming white teeth.
Just one week on from her arrival, the transformation is already clear. The worried little soul who came into rescue has started to truly blossom.
She is putting on weight nicely, her coat is shining, and her eyes are bright, all thanks to the love and care of her wonderful foster family.

Daisy has just begun being left for short periods. She was understandably a little worried at first, but we are delighted to report that she soon settled and was found relaxing in her bed. This is a huge step for a dog who was so anxious on arrival and shows that she is already feeling secure enough not to tip into panic. We’ll gently continue building this up.
Out on walks, Daisy is an absolute dream. She takes traffic, people, and other dogs completely in her stride, walking along like a little show dog. She is gentle, calm, and excellent on the lead.

She has also taken family life in her stride — enjoying visits from family members, gatherings, and even grandchildren. Daisy is friendly, sweet, and polite with everyone she meets.
House training is going very well, with only a few accidents — we’d say she’s around 90% housetrained already.
At home, Daisy has quickly discovered the joys of comfort. She loves the sofa, adores her foster daddy, and can often be found lying quietly beside him with her head resting gently on his knee. She is a calm, chilled, and quiet presence in the house.
Sleeping arrangements were swiftly decided by Daisy herself! Clearly still carrying some worries from her past, she effortlessly cleared the stairgate and settled herself on the bed — where she has stayed ever since.
She sleeps soundly at the bottom of the bed and doesn’t move all night.

Although currently living as an only dog, Daisy has been mixed with other dogs and recently enjoyed her first visit to secure fields with some of the Starfish families’ dogs. She absolutely loved the freedom, racing around happily. Two larger, very friendly dogs tried to engage her in play — she wasn’t quite sure about that — but she genuinely enjoyed being with them and sharing the space.

While sighthounds aren’t renowned for their recall, Daisy has been good as gold so far. With more assessment and guidance, she may be suitable for off-lead time in secure areas, as she is very focused on her humans.
So, that’s Daisy’s first week in foster care — a beautiful-natured, gentle girl with not a bad bone in her body, towards either people or dogs.
We feel Daisy would really benefit from a home with another calm, confident, gentle dog who can help her continue navigating this big new world she’s discovering.
Daisy is scheduled to be spayed this week.
