Sired by Icon “AgLabs In Your Honour” the only duel purpose mahogany red stud in the UK and out of Shelby “Bloodwood Bocote” a traditional working type with lots of power and intelligence when working in the field.
Both parents are fully health tested including DNA, hip/elbow scores and current eye test certificates.
Icon who is based near Norfolk was certainly worth the long trip when coming to choose a stud for Shelby, I have been following his progress since he was a puppy on AgLabs socials and he just gets better and better, he has consistently produced true to type, framey, strong puppies with exceptional colour and personality, he is a competent worker and has a lovely friendly demeanour. Icon and Shelby’s combined COI (coefficient breeding value) is extremely low at 0.0% meaning there is no inbreeding whatsoever and this is an absolute outcross, combine this with the parents immaculate health scores and it means everything possible has been done to eliminate the possibility of a genetic illness or disease.
Shelby is a working dog here at Delphox Gundogs, picking up as a part of our team on our own commercial shoot and others in the area circa 3 days a week during the season, she is a strong swimmer and excels at water retrieving. Shelby has an excellent game finding nose and is a brilliant marker, her pedigree boasts some impressive workers including IFTCH and imports. Shelby is four years old and this is her first litter. Shelby has a wonderful nature, she is quiet but confident and gets on well with all our other dogs big or small. Shelby is excellent with people and children, she greets strangers in a quiet and relaxed manner and has a true ‘off switch’ which means although she loves her walks and working on shoot days she can relax completely when the day is over, never tense or anxious she is super laid-back. Shelby is more traditional look-wise than some workers who can be whippet-like and narrower, she’s a lovely combination of ability and looks.
All of Shelby’s puppies have inherited the extremely dark coat of their father and his lovely black nose and eye liner, they are stocky and well grown with most having no white markings.
These are the only mahogany red puppies by this renowned sire in Scotland at the moment.
These puppies would suit both working or pet homes, I would say owing to Shelby’s laidback approach to life that they would be perfect ‘peg dogs’ happy to watch the action in a calm collected way then have a few controlled retrieves at the end, this being said they’d certainly be just as happy being ‘pub and park dogs’ getting on with everyone in a friendly but not over the top way and settling in easily to new environments.
These puppies will be well socialised to a busy household and will have met a variety of animals including dogs, cats, sheep, horses and little furries. They’ll (when they are old enough) join us on little walks around the farm yard and will spend a huge amount of time with my three year old daughter these summer holidays.

Delphox Gundogs specialises in working dogs that excel in the shooting field, Caroline has experience in training spaniels to trialing and testing standard and has worked dogs since a young age.
Stuart has over 25 years of experience running commercial shoots up and down the country, he trains labradors to trial standard.
Both Caroline and Stuart hold trials for various Gundog clubs and also facilitate training days on their ground for some of the most successful trainers in the world.
