I literally started with 5 only a year ago. I have several groups of 10 healthy Bumblebee Millipedes (Anadenobolus monilicornis) for sale. These lovely creatures are easy to care for and make a great addition to any collection. This is a perfect amount to start your own colony, as I began with just three! About Bumblebee Millipedes: Scientific Name: Anadenobolus monilicornis Size: They grow to about 2 inches long, which is a manageable size for beginners and experienced keepers alike. Lifespan: They can live for several years with the right care and are a great long-term pet. Care Requirements: Bumblebee millipedes are low-maintenance and simple to care for. Here's what you'll need to keep them healthy and happy: Housing: They need a well-ventilated tank or enclosure with a soft substrate like coconut coir or leaf litter. The enclosure should be large enough to give them space to roam and burrow. Humidity: These millipedes thrive in humid conditions. Lightly mist the tank once or twice a week to maintain a humidity level of around 60-80%. This helps them stay hydrated and comfortable. Temperature: Keep them in a warm environment, ideally between 21-25°C (70-77°F). Avoid placing them in direct sunlight or in areas with temperature fluctuations, as extreme heat or cold can be harmful. Diet: Bumblebee millipedes eat decaying plant matter and enjoy small amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables. Suitable foods include apple, cucumber, and courgette in small chunks. It's important to offer only small portions and remove any leftover food to prevent mould growth. Water: Always have a shallow dish of water available for your millipedes to drink from. You should also occasionally mist the tank to maintain hydration, but ensure there's no standing water that could lead to mould or mildew. Handling: Bumblebee millipedes are gentle creatures and can be handled occasionally, but it's important not to over-handle them as it can cause stress. Always handle them carefully, supporting their full body, and wash your hands before and after. Important Notes: Adjustment Period: When you first receive your millipedes, they may bury themselves for a few days to two weeks. This is completely normal and part of their process of adjusting to a new environment. Rest assured, they are not dead—just settling in. Moulting: If your millipedes appear a little grey or pale, they may be undergoing a moult. During this time, it's best to leave them alone as they will be vulnerable while shedding their exoskeleton. It’s important not to disturb them during this phase to avoid causing stress. Price: £10 for all 5 millipedes. These Bumblebee Millipedes are a fantastic choice for anyone looking for an easy-to-care-for pet that’s both fascinating and low-maintenance. They’re perfect for beginners and seasoned invertebrate keepers, and they breed easily in the right conditions, making them a great option if you're interested in starting your own millipede colony. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or would like to arrange a viewing. I’m happy to provide more information or advice on care!
