Description

Spur-Thighed (testudo graeca) tortoises for sale Remaining tortoises are all males. Hatched AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2023. This species are Annex A and must have an Article 10 CITES certificate to be legally sold. 2YO, with CITES Certs £120.00 each. These tortoises all spend of their time outside in summer daytime. These 2 YO are generally in a protected garden run for their safety, but now also have free access to a restricted area of the garden when someone is in the garden. The parents of these are available to for viewing, these generally have free reign of the garden when they are not hibernating. We will require confirmation that potential purchasers are familiar with the requirements for tortoise care, including assurances for their proposed future accommodation. We reserve the right to refuse sale if necessary. We will not part with these animals to anyone that proposes to keep them solely in an indoor environment during the summer months. At the moment and they are spending sunny days outside and will continue to do so when conditions are suitable throughout the autumn. They will need suitable indoor accommodation for the winter. It may be possible for them to have a short (max 3 months) hibernation if new owners so choose, but that is the new owners decision. Spur-Thighed tortoises are relatively easy to care for, but there are fundamental pitfalls. There are many websites that provide guidance for tortoise care, the Tortoise Trust being one good example. We will provide some guidance notes with some care information and on pitfalls of which new keepers need to be aware. These tortoises started off as family pets, this is the first year we have marketed the offspring. In over 30 years of tortoise keeping we have never lost a tortoise or had to take any tortoise to a vet for a health issue. Given the right environment these are robust creatures that should live for many years without issue.
